Several Webb School of Knoxville music students earned high honors from the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association (ETSBOA) this school year.
In November 2006, Webb eighth grade cellist Sarah King, eighth grade violinist Dixy Yong, and seventh grade violinist Nicole King auditioned and were selected for the ETSBOA Junior Orchestra Clinic at Carson-Newman College. Students were chosen based on their performance of scales, a prepared orchestra piece, and sight-reading.
More recently, senior euphonium player Tom Wallen, sophomore trumpet player Reyner Crosby, senior violinist Kamaria Baxter, junior violinist Ethan Lai, and junior cellist Doug Slater auditioned and were selected for the 2007 ETSBOA All-State East Senior Clinic in Gatlinburg, Tenn., February 1-3.
Baxter, Lai and Slater were also selected to perform in the "All-State Orchestra" at the Tennessee Music Education Association's (TMEA) All-State at the new Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, April 18-21, where they will play with students from all three Tennessee districts.
