Roane State Community College freshman Chris Rains hopes he'll need a passport to land the nursing job he wants.
Rains, a 2007 Clinton High School graduate who attends Roane State's Oak Ridge Campus, plans to work overseas.
"I want to do travel nursing," he said. "I learned about it from my brother. I love to travel."
Rains' brother, David, also attended Roane State. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in nursing and is still at UT, working on a master's (nurse anesthesia concentration).
Chris said he wants to become a nurse because he "wants to be able to make a difference in people's lives."
He said he chose Roane State because the Oak Ridge Campus is close to home and because Roane State is affordable.
"The teachers are very helpful," he said. "All my professors, if you have a problem, they help you out.
"I just felt like I needed a little more guidance and advice on how to study and prepare for college itself. I'm starting to get it down pat."
Rains said he plans to follow in his brother's footsteps and transfer to UT.
